Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi everyone! New here. I'm so glad I found DK, I've read so much helpful info and have thoroughly enjoyed looking at everyones doodles!

We got Knox, an F2B goldendoodle, about a month and a half ago--he is now 14 weeks old and doing great! One thing I am DYING to know is what he might look like when he's older! We have another doodle, Nolan (F1 who is Knox's father), that looks 100% retriever, so we were hoping to have a more shaggy/doodley looking pup this go round. Knox is definitely more fluffy/shaggy than Nolan ever was but I cannot figure out what he will end up looking like. He started out just a ball of fluff, now he is shedding puppy fur and acquiring a coarser/wavyish stripe down his back that kinda parts in the middle. However his sides look like fleece, and the hair on top of his head is Albert Einstein crazy! Here of some pics of his coat recently.. Does anyone have a doodle that resembled him? Thanks in advance! :)

Knox is very cute and I think he will look quite doodlely.

He is a cutie! His head and face look pretty doodle-like to me!

knox's body double, yogi, definitely shares his kooky coat! he is a few weeks behind knox (12 weeks old) but is starting to get the wavy stripe down his back. the stripe is coming in wavier than we thought it would, and it seems a lot thicker than his pupy fuzz.

he still has A TON of puppy fuz like knox, and his head definitely resembles albert einstein with crazy wisps going in every direction. he also shares knox's scruff around his chin... really hoping he gets the rest of his facial hair soon!

so, you're not alone in having a doodle with a coat that makes no sense! it's fun to watch them change. please continue posting photos of knox!

Ok good, they can look kooky together! ;) And yes, he has gotten big. Weighed 25 pounds when he was 12 weeks old! Keep me updated on Yogi's progression!!

Looks pretty normal to me.  He seems to be more lab with his coat, but this puppy coat will fall out and will probably be more curly as he ages.  If his father looks more retriever, that is probably where he is getting his coat, but is the mother more poodley?  Is that Nolan in the background in the middle photo?

Yup, Banjo got that dark, course stripe down the middle, that gradually widened.    For a while there he sorta looked like a patchwork quilt of a dog.....all kinds of different textures and lengths.....I seem to remember it all coming together around a year old.    That is also the time he got his first big-boy hair cut.    His coat now is quite soft and thick.   Knox is adorable!

Thank you all so much. It's reassuring to know that they can look a little wacky. Yes, that is Nolan in the background of the 2nd pic. No doodle at all. haha. The dog we bred him with is an F1B who looks 100% poodle. Come on poodle genes!

I have an F2b labradoodle. Yours looks like he will poodle out. My guy is a lot more curly though... probably because labs have shorter hair.

What a cutie. Thanks for posting! Hopefully Knox wil get more poodley like your guy.. It seems with this breed, you never know what they will turn out like

You stole my dog! LOL My daughter thought this was a picture of our Abigail :-)

I noticed that ours are extremely similar in color. I think its the best color... I may be biased. :P

Hi there,

I took one look at Knox and thought he was the spitting image of my 9 month old puppy Truman.  Have a look at my page and I would say you should expect almost the same dog!
