Our precious Cody went to heaven friday night:(

He had a really rough week since the fever and 2 days of IV fluids last week. He was eating very little this week and was having a lot of stomach pain. Friday he had blood coming out of him like diarrhea. Our family vet was able to see him that evening for us and it happened again while we were there. We knew it was time. He was so tired. He’s been very strong this year but the cancers and the drugs had taken their toll on his body.... We couldn’t let him hurt any more.

He drifted peacefully to sleep and is now running free from the pain. Hug your puppies tonight for us. We held him tight and thanked him for all the wonderful friends he brought into our lives and the love he gave us till the last minute. He is free. I'll miss him every day of my life.  He was my heart dog.

We want to thank all of our friends and family SO MUCH for the outpouring of love and compassion after losing our sweet Cody Friday night. While we never knew how long the cancers would spare him, we were not expecting it that day.

Since his initial lymphoma diagnosis on January 13th, so many people have donated to his vet expenses either through the Doodle Messenger or our GoFundMe account. Because of you, we had 9 months with our boy. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts:) This month alone, his vet bills were $2,500.We learned this year that sometimes you need to accept help from friends. I hope we can soon pay it forward!

I never got to post this picture Friday before he passed away. Thursday I was told at his treatment that he was once again in remission. John's birthday was that day so we emailed this picture to him at work. He said it was the best present he ever got:)

I still can't believe he's gone. It's like a bad dream that I'm trying to wake up from. Thank you everyone for caring about Cody and about us!

I'm so sorry. It's tough saying goodbye... and that is an understatement. Words can't really express the amount of pain.
