Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I have a 13 wk old double doodle. i crate him while at work and wondering how to build up his bladder endurance. he has been fairly consistent at 2.5hrs. some of my apprehension in assuming that he should be able to go 4 hrs (3 months + 1 rule) are a couple of accidents early on in the training. Any advice?

I have always heard the same rule of thumb. My only suggestion would be that when you take him out to potty before you leave make sure he has time to go more than once. Many puppies don't empty their bladder completely on the first time and will sometimes go 2 or 3 times.
Rules of thumb are NOT absolutes. My small doodle has had a 'bladder of steel' forever - from 14 weeks on. I have friends with dogs who have had to take them out at night for months and months or they would have an accident.
Reminder to allow for multiple potties before crating is great.
