Danger Lurks in the Beautiful Fall Leaves

Be careful with playing in the leaves.  I let Bailey run through leaves and she had a ball sniffing and rooting in them but.....she jumped back at one point like something hurt her but kept right on playing.  About 3 hours later her eye was almost swollen shut and she was licking a place on her upper front leg.  Trip to the vet...shot of steroid and shot of benadryl and.prednisone pills for 2 weeks.  We figure something stung or bit her...ground wasp?? ...snake??...we will never know!  But sadly,  I won't be letting her play in the leaves again!

Thanks, Linda!  It was pretty scary when she came to me and looked up and I saw that eye!

Thanks, Karen!  She is a tough little thing!  What seems to bother her most is the place she is licking on her leg...not her eye!  Weird!

Oh no....so sorry Bailey got hurt. That looks like a nasty something. How scary. Hope she is feeling better!!

Thanks, Laurie!  It was scary when I noticed her eye!  Had to scramble to get into a vet before they closed!
