Yogi update

Hi everybody! Just thought to share an update on my not-so-poodle doodle, Yogi. He's just shy of 4 months, and he's a beefy 31 pounds. Little piggy!

His facial furnishings on his muzzle are finally growing in, which make him look more scruffy than doodle... but we think he's pretty irresistible. :)

As for the rest of his coat, it's up for grabs! He is a wild mix of very fine puppy fuzz (he still has a ton of puppy fuzz on the top of his head, chest and legs) and thicker adult hair. The thicker hair that is growing in has a lot of wave to it, and we're hoping it keeps growing!

All of our recent pics of Yogi are with his doodle brother, Fozzie... because they are always together! Here are a few. Would love to hear if any of you have or had a similar looking doodle.

hi, the older dog in the photo is not yogi's father. it's our 6-year old goldendoodle from another breeder, fozzie. fozz has always been very 'doodle-y'. he came home with pronounced facial markings at 8 weeks and quickly grew into his thick coat. it's so interesting to see how different doodles can look!

yogi's father was a poodle, actually. he was bred with a half american / half english GR. all of the puppies in yogi's liter favored their GR genes.

Julie, I think we must have had some sort of teleported wifi connection today haha... I just posted an update of Knox, then saw your post! Check it out. They look so much alike! I think they are definitely getting cuter and doodlier by the week :)

too funny! i saw your knox update. what adorable pics! knox is most certainly 'doodling out'. he's scrumptious! it's fun to see how closely he and yogi continue to resemble each other.

how much does knox weigh? yogi (31 pounds) is much bigger than our other doodle was at 4 months.

also, did you say that knox was shedding? how badly? yogi was strictly non-shedding until a few days ago when we started to notice a few strands of hair our clothes. he's not shedding a lot, but i'm wondering if that's coming next?

lastly, what is knox's personality? yogi seems to favor his retriever side -- both in terms of looks and personality. i grew up with golden retrievers, and yogi behaves just like them!

Knox weighs 36 pounds! But he's a few weeks older than Yogi, so I bet they will be similar in size. Yes, he sheds uncontrollably...I think he's blowing his puppy coat (at least that's what I'm praying!) because it's all fine, crimpy puppy fluff. He started shedding about a month ago and doesn't look like it's letting up anytime soon :( What kind of hair is Yogi shedding? Did your other dog shed as a puppy or has he never been a shedder? It's so crazy how doodles' coats can vary so much. 

As far as his personality, I think Knox has a good mix of both poodle and retriever- he's more independent and playful than Nolan, our other doodle, who is definitely all retriever :) But they are both wonderful!

Love seeing how our doodles are growing :)

36 pounds?! WOW! knox is a big, healthy boy! i'd love to see updated pics of him. it's so fun to see how they change.

yogi still isn't shedding much. we've only noticed a few very fine hairs laying around, thankfully. our other doodle sheds very lightly. i hope yogi is the same way, but i have to suspect he'll pick up that ugly habit from his retriever-dominant genes!

He is a mirror image of my Truman who just turned a year.  Have a look at my photo gallery.  I had no idea what to expect when we first got him, but he is exactly what I had hoped for.  I wanted  a shaggy not curly doodle :)

WOW! if i didn't know any better, i would think that the dog in your photos IS yogi! the resemblance is unreal. truman is adorable... i also love scruffy and shaggy doodles!

when did truman's adult coat come in? we think yogi still has a decent amount of puppy hair, particularly around his sides and belly. his hair in those areas is a lot finer than the hair on his back, chest and legs.

does truman mat or shed? yogi so far isn't really shedding much, if at all... thankfully. we're hoping that keeps up!
