Drought doodles

Well, the drought is over here in California and we have been getting lots of rain.   My problem is that my dogs do not like the rain and will not go out in it.  Usually when I open the slider, they go running out to the dog run and do their business.  But, if the rain is coming down, they just stand at the back door and look at the rain.  Once in a while they will run up under the eaves and pee by the laundry room, but most of the time they just decide they can hold it.  Harpo still goes out to get the newspaper in the rain.

Anyway, anyone ever train their doodle to pee in the toilet?  I know it has been done and my friend trained all his cats to use the toilet.  As soon as one does it, the others follow suit.  There is a photo of a dog (that looks much like Harpo) standing on the seat with his front paws up on the toilet lid and peeing in the toilet.  I tried to get Groucho Too to stand over the toilet and pee (he was tall enough to straddle the toilet) but he never got the idea.  Any ideas?

You will have a tough time with this one. Eventually, they suck it up and go outside to potty after they can no longer hold it anymore.   You might want to go out there and dance in the rain with them. Sometimes, just going out in the ' strange' rain helps your dogs to know you are okay with this situation.

Funny!  Actually, the toilet is not their water dish.   The lid is usually closed, but they do not drink out of the toilet.

Just curious is anyone has done this.  I am willing to give it a try.

Spud does not drink out of the toilet either, but I do find my cats on occasions splashing around and playing in the sink or the toilet,

Why dont you look up " Dogs Pooping in the Toilet" videos.  You may get some ideas, gross videos, or at least a laugh.

Oh, Joanne, that was a comment by someone else - "Why would a dog pee in his water dish?" suggesting, I think, that the toilet was his water dish.  But, I did get one solution this morning.  A squirrel came out on the deck and all three dogs ran out (in the rain) to chase the squirrel.  Laila did not want to come back inside, but after they chased the squirrel, they all three went down below and took a pee.  So, I guess if there is something interesting enough, they will go out in the rain.

Haha, Joanne.  I was not talking about pooping.  I will try to find that photo and copy it for you.  The dog was peeing in the toilet.  But, hey, if they can learn to pee in the toilet, they could probably poop in it too.

I'm going now to try to find that photo.  It gave me some inspiration.

I haven't been on DK in a while, and I'm laughing so hard at this.  I have a 4 1/2 month old puppy, maybe you need to start them young....should I try, and also how to spray freshener!!!!!

and close the lid before flushing since studies show that microscopic poop particles spray all over!  LOL
