Anyone have a CrAZy coat like Knox as a pup?

Hi everyone! New here. I'm so glad I found DK, I've read so much helpful info and have thoroughly enjoyed looking at everyones doodles!

We got Knox, an F2B goldendoodle, about a month and a half ago--he is now 14 weeks old and doing great! One thing I am DYING to know is what he might look like when he's older! We have another doodle, Nolan (F1 who is Knox's father), that looks 100% retriever, so we were hoping to have a more shaggy/doodley looking pup this go round. Knox is definitely more fluffy/shaggy than Nolan ever was but I cannot figure out what he will end up looking like. He started out just a ball of fluff, now he is shedding puppy fur and acquiring a coarser/wavyish stripe down his back that kinda parts in the middle. However his sides look like fleece, and the hair on top of his head is Albert Einstein crazy! Here of some pics of his coat recently.. Does anyone have a doodle that resembled him? Knox sure is growing!! So cute :)  I'm waiting on Hudson's hair to grow out more - it's still pretty short on his sides. But the stripe down the middle continues to grow, and it's wavy. The stripe kind of looks like it's lighter at the roots and maybe changing texture (roots seem to be whiter and softer).  Probably just wishful thinking on my part though...because he sheds. And sheds. And sheds. :)

Hudson is about 52 pounds, so about the same as Knox! He was born 6/9/14.

OK, hope my daughter doesn't read this but - when she was little her hair ws very fine and stood straight up.  Really cute.  Our Kate started changing when we got her around 18 weeks.  She got a strip down her back, then went down her side and last the face.

Holy cow- looking back at these original photos, my little boy has changed so much! Here is Knox's 5 month update! He is continuing to get curlier and longer hair, facial hair is growing and he is a whopping 50 pounds! (gasp)

He is so cute. When is his birthday? Orwell just turned 5 months as well on the 11th. His rate of growth is amazing me as well. He's about 7 lbs lighter than your guy, but he clearly doesn't have the bone structure your guy has. Your guy looks like he has a nice golden retriever body. My guy has a pathetic poodle body. :P But, he's 22 inches tall at the shoulder. I ask him what happened to my little puppy, but he doesn't seem to know.

Aw they're only 5 days apart! Knox was born July 5th. :) I know it's crazy how fast they grow..Knox definitely has a retriever stature with some tall legs. But Orwell is super handsome and just perfect the way he is with his poodle body! I actually like that look better :)

July parties! Orwell's mother's birthday is also the 11th... she had the pups on her birthday. It's also my father's birthday. (:

I like the look in general too, but it freaks me out when he is soaked with water. I always say, "I feed him... right?" I guess I'm just used to a bit more bulk on dogs.

Our Kate started out with shorter fluffy hair.  The stripe starts on the back and quickly goes down the sides, then legs and finally face.  She has great fur.  Her hair is about 2-3 inches long now.  It takes a minute to brush and 5 minutes of hugs to keep her groomed.  She won't need a professional groomer.  Her hair doesn't shed much but the hair is long.  I don't think she will be really shaggy but at 8 months I am not sure this is a final coat.  The hardest thing to maintain is her beard because things stick in it.  I have to admit she looks the same after grooming as before.  Love her coat.

Kate looks a lot like Orwell's mother (except she is black). She evidently became more rough as she grew and you can feel more fur than soft hair. Either way, I love the shaggy look. Orwell has more of a classic ALD look because of his F1b father, but at least I can keep it to where it doesn't look prissy and pretty. My boy is macho. :P Okay, not really...

What a cutie! She looks like how a lot of people trim their long haired doodles for summer! We have another golden doodle who is basically a retriever who doesn't shed as bad, and the low maintenance fur is quite nice!! Yes those beards are a blessing and curse! So much gets trapped in there...and water always drips everywhere.. haha

Ozzies hair is getting curlier and shorter! He is also a good bit smaller than his big brother Doc was at 4 months Oz weighs 22lbs Doc was 38lbs. Not sure what that means.. If some grow more slowly or if he'll just be much smaller. They had the same mom but Oz's dad was actually 10lbs bigger than Doc's!

THat's funny! Maybe Oz was the runt of the litter! ;)  He's so adorable..  love his beautiful green eyes!
