Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi,
So everything was perfect, our puppy has a doggy door and can go outside to do his thing. Until the last two days that started raining, when he comes back, his paws are all muddy. So we have to either intercept him and clean his paws all the time or clean the mud from the floor all the time.
How do you guys deal with situations like these, any tips? Is using the cage and just take him out a few times a day the only solution?

We don't have a doggy door, we just let Charlie outside whenever he scratches at the door to go pee and if it's muddy then I either watch him while he goes or put him on his leash and take him out front. The one time I let him out back and didn't supervise he came back in a MESS. I had to carry him upstairs (at 50 lbs that isn't easy) and stick him in the tub to rinse off his paws. I also use baby wipes to wipe them down when they aren't too bad and you can buy a leave-in conditioner type of spray to spray them down and wipe them.
We just have constant muddy floors in the back entry way area. It is gated off from the kitchen so if they are muddy/wet they have to stay in that "mud room" until they stop making tracks.
