I deleted the other post and re-made it because I kept wanting to add things.

Charlie LOVES his food. He's on Orijen Puppy and every single morning, lunch and dinner he runs to the food bowl when he knows it's time to eat and devours his food in 10 seconds. The last two days he has no interest in his food unless I put something on top. Yesterday I tried banana and he ate all his food, but banana gives him stinky farts so I try to avoid that. Today I tried pumpkin and he ate most of it but when the pumpkin ran out he stopped eating. Why isn't he eating? He's still drinking, his bowels are normal, and he is still very playful. He is 8 months old now, still not fixed.

I should also add that Charlie still has some soft stool. In the morning it's a normal poop. Then we go for a walk and that one is a bit softer, and sometimes he'll do a third which is always watery. He does another poop after dinner and generally that one is like pudding consistency. It's always been this way so I'm not sure if this is abnormal, or maybe it's just normal for him.

Just a side note – as I was typing this, he threw up all of his breakfast with the pumpkin.

I hope he's ok... I’m really not sure what to do.

He's drinking a ton of water, only threw up once but is acting completely normal. I ended up asking him if he wanted lunch and he seemed interested so I put his food down to see if he would eat and he ate it all up and didn't throw up anything. Same with dinner - my mom fed him and he wanted to eat, also not throwing anything up. So I think this is a good sign.

Hoping you've gotten Charlie to the vet. I agree with Karen and BG.  Most important, they can check if he has an obstruction. If they rule that out, they can check for dehydration and hydrate him and give him something for nausea.  Along with a bland diet, he'll be healing over the holiday not getting worse.  Sometimes the little stinkers stop eating until they get something good mixed in, but the fact that he stopped eating and then vomited up the pumpkin that he tried to eat is concerning.  Keep us posted.

Just an update to everyone --

I didn't take Charlie to the vet but a few days after he was acting normal and then he pooped out what looked like some sort of elastic band that he must have picked up on the street. He's been fine ever since! Two days ago he threw up some things he must have gotten into while we were out one day, including some string from his toys. I am now taking EXTRA caution when leaving him out of the crate to ensure there is absolutely nothing he can get to, including toys with anything that can be chewed off.

Thanks for all the love and concern I apprecaite everyone's help

Well, it's gratifying to know that my original diagnosis of a foreign object was correct, lol. Thanks for letting us know.

Nikki, you got very lucky here. As I pointed out in an earlier comment, when a dog swallows something non-edible that doesn't come back out immediately, there can be serious repercussions, and you don't always see them immediately. It can takes months for the damage to show up. The longer it sits there, the greater chance that it can cause internal damage and an inflammatory immune disease that is permanent and very expensive to treat. In worst case scenarios, the object becomes embedded or tangled in the gut, and that can require very expensive ($3000 plus) surgery and even cause death. We do have members here who have experienced these things, and will tell you that there is nothing that hurts more than watching a dog suffer with an incurable GI disease or losing a dog to something that could have been prevented. I am glad that Charlie was able to bring these things up (and out), and very, very glad that you are taking steps to ensure that it doesn't happen again.

I am glad that Charlie's problem is solved.
