Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
We adopted Molly a month and a half ago from the SPCA and, at times, will refer to her as our rescue doodle. The thing is I don't know how much we "rescued" her. If we hadn't adopted her there probably would have been at least a dozen people lined up for her, I just happened to be in the right place at the right time and as a result once her hold at animal enforcement was up, (she was picked up as a stray), she went straight to the vet where I met her and took her home.
She has been so good, has fit into our household wonderfully, and she and Sulley are really starting to bond. Yes there are a few things we need to work on, obeying commands consistently, leash walking and she will get into the garbage or compost if at all possible and loves eating used paper towels. I guess I'm used to thinking a rescue dog is one who was in danger of being put down or has some kind of medical or behaviour issue.
By referring to her as a rescue dog, I feel like it implies we did something more than we did. We did know it was possible she would have issues we would have to deal with but honestly I can't imagine it going much better than it has. We just feel blessed with her. Perhaps we should start calling her our "blessing" doodle.
Does this make any sense? lol
