Hey...looking for some thought provoking books... What is your favorite book to read about dogs, training, persoanilaity etc?

I really liked the other end of the leash and 101 dog tricks because it's fun. :)

While it seemed a little hokey (considering she also writes books about other breeds and, really, how many breeds can you know SO much about ?!) a coworker gave me the book I linked below, and it was really good! I learned a lot and it was nice to have it all there in one book and not be searching all over the Internet.

Edited to add: in that book she recommended a squirrel toy for Goldendoodle puppies. I was kinda skeptical but ordered it anyway...and wouldn't ya know--it's his favorite toy! Lol.

Mine are fluffy feel good books... The Art of Racing in the Rain, A Dogs Purpose and A Dogs Journey... A Dogs Purpose made me look at all my dogs a little differently...

Hi Jenn, I have read and enjoyed Oogy, by Larry Levin. The Art of Racing in the Rain, by Garth Stein.

A Big Little Life, by Dean Koontz. Also, Life Is Good: Lessons in Joyful Living, by his (Dean Koontz's) dog.

The children's book called, Help Me Mr. Mutt. It is fun, not a novel or anything, but still fun. Another fun one is Dog Shaming by Pascale Lemire. Then, not a dog, but a cat story is Dewey, by Vicki Myron about the cat left in the library book drop box.

Gosh, I love books and have many dog favourites! It helps that my eldest is a librarian....

At the moment I like "the genius of Dogs" by Brian Hare and Vanessa Woods.

And "in defence of dogs" by John Bradshaw.

Both are about dogs in general and our (humans) relationship with them. They are not training books, but are fascinating looks at our closest animal friends.

I shall be watching this post for other books to read. Thank you for starting it.

Reading "The Art Of Racing In The Rain". Loving it!

I cannot for the life of me think of the name of this book but it is about a lady in England who badly wants a baby and while she waits to get pregnant, she decides to become a 'temporary' owner/ foster for puppies who will hopefully become service dogs.  I really enjoyed the book but I have passed it on and can't remember the title or author.
