Sedona - 5 year old Labradoodle - began "coughing" this morning.  The thing is, she hasn't been around any other dogs for more than a month.  Other than the cough, she seems to feel fine - has been playing and eating normally.  Any thoughts?

No idea, but I hope it's nothing.

Thanks, Karen.  :)

My girls have had it a few times i would recommend a vet visit. I didn't catch on the last time my baby girl caught it and by the time I got her to the vet it'd turned into pneumonia! (We were camping). It's not work the risk when you can get needs for two weeks, or pneumonia situation was very scary and expensive It's my understanding you don't have to be with a sick dog but you could have been where a sick dog was?

We'll head to the vet tomorrow - didn't want to see an unknown vet on the weekend.  We've been checking and she doesn't seem to be running a fever.

Is she "honking"? Or is it another type of cough? Could she have eaten something that got stuck in her throat-grass, etc? Kennel cough often sounds like a honk.

Yes, it's a definite honk.  My husband first though it was something in her throat, but she's been eating and drinking normally.  Plus the honk happens upon moving.  If she's lying still, she rarely coughs.  Will see what the vet has to say tomorrow.

I'm glad you're taking her in. Hope she is feeling better soon-I just hate that honking sound!! Poor baby! Let us know what you find out!!

Deanna, please let us know how Sedona makes out at the Vet....been thinking of you and hoping it's nothing serious.

I believe Kennel cough is an airborne virus. It certainly sounds like it from what you describe. Poor Sedona :( I will watch for updates and hope that it is something easily treated.

No honking today.  Go figure.  So we're now in a "wait and see" mode.  We did cancel her grooming appointment for today, just in case.  Will let you know if anything develops, but for now it looks like it was "just one of those things".  Thanks all for your concern.

That's good....I like it when it disappears before the vet visit.

Great news! Maybe it was a virus that she was able to shake off herself.  :)
