Larry is obsessed with socks...... eating socks especially. I am trying everything to keep them out of his reach. But with 4 boys and a husband, one occasionally gets misplaced. This dog can sniff them out of any nook! So far he has thrown them up, but I know how dangerous this can be to him. Any suggestions? We are starting obedience training and I have been working with him on "leave it"! It works for everything but socks.

I feel your pain.  My Charlotte eats socks and now my Tessa has eaten one.  We try to keep everything picked up.  My husband installed spring hinges on the rooms where socks live (bedrooms and laundry rooms).  I have 4 kids (10-15) and they wear socks, but they are pretty diligent about picking them up. (They get fined $$ and have to pick up dog poop if they leave socks out.) Socks they miss, I get.  All that said, there is still the occasional eaten sock.  I don't know when/where/how the dogs find the socks and I do not know how to stop this.  My dogs are quite good at "leave it".  I have instigated "trading", if the dog finds a sock and brings it to me, they get a super-duper treat.   I'm hoping this works because honestly I'm not sure what else to do.......
