Not sure what this post is about, but we have a list of recommended food brands here on DK in the Food Group. We do not use a ratings system, as there are many factors that affect whether or not any particular formula is a good choice for any particular dog, and the ratings sites do not take the sourcing of ingredients or the manufacturing practices into account.

Karen, is there a link to a discussion that breaks down ingredients in Purina and why people should choose an alternative?

Sure, there are lots of discussions in TFG about the ingredients in Purina brand foods. There are dozens of Purina formulas, so the ingredients vary depending on which one you're talking about, and there is no one discussion that would cover all of them. Nowadays, with the awareness that many pet owners are better educated about ingredients, Purina has even brought out some formulas in which the ingredients look okay; at that point, we remind ourselves that those ingredients are imported from China through third party food brokers, so what you see (on the label) is usually not what you get (in the bag) and even Purina doesn't know what's really in there or where it came from, because they didn't buy it direct.

Your best bet is to do a search for "Purina" in the FG discussions.

I personally think there is no point in even trying to educate anyone on FB. Good for sharing cute pictures, jokes, etc., bad for having any kind of intelligent discussion.

I've been feeding both boys Purina Pro Plan Sport with no issues. I'm concerned about the quality of their product and am looking to change foods. I bought a small bag of Taste of the Wild High Prairie to try out. I'll let you know how we make out

I try to confine my food advice to the Food Group, but TOTW is also not on our recommended brands list. They are owned and made by Diamond, which has one of the worst, if not the worst, recall records out there.
