Thank-you

Puppies are a lot of work..even good puppies...like good babies.  Skadi was very bitey and wild when we got her at 3 months old...but today...very sweet and lovable.  Good luck with Lana she is so very cute.

Thank-you. It's amazing the differences you can see in temperaments even as puppies. Puppies are definitely a lot of work! Teddy was not a bad dog just wasn't the temperament for me. Lana has that middle of the road temperament I was looking for. We feel very fortunate to have her.

I think you are absolutely right.  I have never had the privelege of being able to "pick" a puppy out of a litter myself or with someone to help me... Skadi was given to us ... probably because she was somewhat "wild".  I had not had a puppy for over 30 years!  Only had one older dog that had many issues  and I had my cats.  So when we were presented with Skadi, from our grown children who couldn't handle her, I began my quest to learn as much as possible to make our lives together a successful one.  Skadi took a "good" long time to finally accepted us as her family.  Now, 4 1/2 years later we have adopted another dog, Elli, who is 6 ....and I thought having a "puppy" was work...HA.  So, love that little girl and have fun fun fun...and welcome to DoodleKisses. :)

That's awesome you had the time and patience Skadi required to make her a great dog! I have a 14 year old male Havanese I adore! Honestly, he has been the best dog. From the time he was a puppy he never destroyed anything in or out of the house. He really was not much of a chewer. He was very easy to potty train even without a doggy door. He has a very soft obedient temperament and very easy to train and live with. On the other hand, we also had a female Corgi who lived to be 9 years old. She was more of an alpha type female....very bossy, but obedient due to proper training with a professional trainer. She was so smart and intuitive since she was a herding dog. We really loved and enjoyed her, but had a complete different experience with her versus our Havanese. She definitely wasn't a bad dog just more headstrong and required a firmer hand. This time around, we knew we wanted a sweet go with the flow temperament which I feel Lana will have. Although, as with all my dogs, obedience training is a must. We're so looking forward to many wonderful fun years with her. I'm also looking forward to learning more about Doodles from all of the wonderful members on this site! Thank- you for your insights and the warm welcome.

Good luck with Lana! She is adorable. I think you made a good decision.

Thank- you so much! It was a difficult decision, but I know I made the best decision for me and my family.
