Have to share this new collar I got for Gavin.  It is made from recycled bicycle inner tubes.  It is lightweight, but has very nice metal hardware.  The buckle is like an airplane seatbelt buckle and the ring that you clip your leash to, doubles as a bottle opener.  It is fast drying, mold resistant and does not get smelly. It is made by a company called Cycle Dog.  It is a small business started by a woman in Portland Oregon. I love the fact that they are recycling material that would otherwise go to the landfill.   Adina, maybe they would be interested in participating in one of the DK giveaways?  Here is the link:  http://cycledog.com/

And here is Gavin's collar:

Very cool collar, and I love the color on Gavin!

Love their nice bright colors on their collars (that was hard to type).  I went to their website to try and see what is on the back side of the collar.  I particularly love that they have a play area in their store where the dogs can come play with their toy selection to see which ones they like the best.  Now, back to what is on the back of the collar.  Doesn't the tire stick to all the fur?

Here is a view of the backside.  It is not sticky at all.  Very smooth and soft and flexible.

It's awesome.....and you had me at "it doubles as a bottle opener".

I know!! If they could figure out how to hold a cork screw on it...well Nirvana right?

Love it!  Very cool!  At first I thought it said Recycled Dog (duh, me)

Very cool collar!    Thanks for sharing!

Very cool! My husband who loves to bike has probably created a heap of tubes himself! I love what they did with the tubes! Better than some if the things I find here, latest was staking a tree and tying it up with an old tube.  I shake my head but how can I get rid of it, it's so him! : ) Will definitely check these out, tganks for sharing!

That looks very neat. Does the closure seem secure?
Yes F. Very strong.
I wondered about that too, would be concerned that it would come undone easily by accident?
It is not easy to undo. In fact it has taken me a little bit to get the hang of it (child-proof lol). The clasp to lift to release it is quite recesessed and I have to get my nail under it.
