Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
With heavy hearts and tears, we are sad to share the news of the sudden and untimely passing this past Friday of one of our most beloved DK & DRC family members, Joyce Berry; best friend. life partner and wife of our own Dane Berry (Guinness, Rosco & Honey), Doodle mom to Guinness, Rosco (DRC Class of 2010) and Honey (DRC Class of 2013).
Not many were aware that Joyce had been battling with health issues on and off over this past year. Always putting others before herself, Joyce did not want to burden friends and family with worry. Especially, when a routine scan revealed the unthinkable just 3 weeks ago; a very aggressive form of pancreatic cancer was rapidly spreading throughout her body.
Joyce was at home in the loving arms and care of her beloved Dane when she passed peacefully in her sleep. She was surrounded by her doodle babies who seemed to instinctively know that their momma was sick and about to leave them. One by one, they gently crawled up on the bed next to Joyce and never left her side.
Please join us in extending our prayers, support and deepest heartfelt sympathies to our dearest friend Dane, the Berry fur-kids Guinness, Rosco and Honey and to the entire Berry Family.
Condolences can be sent via mail to:
Berry Family / Berry Oaks Doodle Ranch
P.O. Box 237

Dane has asked us to include that Joyce requested donations in lieu of flowers, be made to Doodle Rescue Collective Inc. in her name.

One of my favorites, and very appropriate for Joyce. Thank you for posting it, Kate.
Lovely Kate - that choked me up. Very appropriate.
Thank you for finding this!! I have been looking for 2 days. This is the exact version I thought of as well when we heard the news of Joyce's passing. It is with tears, love and admiration that we remember Joyce. You know she took all of those waiting babies with her.
Thank you for posting this Jacquie. She did a wonderful job with the doodles who shared her life. Condolences to all her family.
What a beautiful tribute to her life. What an angel she was on earth. Prayers for her entire family and extended loved ones.
I am so sorry about this sad news. I followed the Honey story and their Friday night Pizza postings on Facebook. What a terrible loss for Dane and the Doodles. God bless them!
So very sad. I only knew Joyce and Dane through Honey's story but that was enough to know how special she was. Sending condolences and prayers to her family.
Another reminder of just how fragile life can be. This is heartbreaking. She touched so many of us in her own way. I worry so about Dane and the Doodles....this must be truly overwhelming. RIP special "Doodle Lady".
As I have said in other forums, I really feel like I know this wonderful family as well as a next door neighbor, probably better. Their selfless rescue of Honey, their friendship with Sherri and Mike and the wonderful stories they took time to share brought them home to many of us. My heart aches for Dane and the doods and I hope he finds some comfort in the many memories they shared. Dane's request for support to the DRC is another example of how wonderful these folks are and how much Joyce will be missed by many.
That is such a heartbreaking news. She will be missed. Deepest sympathies to her family. :-(
I feel so fortunate that I had the opportunity to meet Joyce, Dane and their wonderful doodles last year. It's very hard to wrap my head around this tragic loss. My heart is broken for Dane, Honey, Roscoe and Guinness (and the rest of the Berry family).
