yelping when puppy bites

I have been yelping when my puppy bites me too hard, but all he does is look at me then give me a couple kisses, then goes right back to playing like he was. Does this reaction mean it's working?

Your puppy is playing just like he would be with his siblings, so yes it is working...when they nip each other too hard yelping lets the other know that and they stop.  But, they go right back to playing the same way until the next yelp or until the other pup bests them and then they go to something else.  When you yelp give him an immediate 're-direction', something else to put his mouth on or play with, if that doesn't work then he needs a timeout to settle down, he may be too wound up.
