I am totally on the fence with the lepto vaccine . I was giving it to Bailey for years ( he is 10 now ) and decided after researching the side effects not to give it for the past couple of years . I live in NY and now hear that there area cases , I also read that there are so many different types and the vaccine only covers about 4 ....Any thoughts on this ....I am so nervous about doing the wrong thing .

I live in Nj and get the vaccine for my two. They have ever had a problem.

My guys have always had the Lepto vaccine every year, no,side effects noticed. I live in the woods and my guys are exposed to raccoons, go swimming in beaver ponds etc etc, so I figured they needed the shot!

I vaccinate my guys every year for Lepto.  We often walk them in places where the "wildlife" is plentiful and there are sometimes areas of standing water...a recipe for Lepto.  While they're always leashed and I'm watching them closely, I'd still rather be safe.

I think it would depend on if Bailey gets into vegetative, standing water type areas. But if you are going to give it, I would not give all your vaccines on the same day. I split everything up by 2 weeks.

I was on the fence.  After discussions here and with my Vet, as well as doing some research, I decided to get the vaccine.  We live in a semi-rural area and my property abutts a wooded area.  We get all kinds of critters.  He was given the shot in two separate doses spread out over 2 weeks.  Happy to report no side effects.
