Our LD came from Judy at Glen Eden too! We picked him up almost exactly a year ago today. He was born in Oct. 2007, wooly to fleece coat, no shed, at all, 65 lbs and apricot color. We LOVE him. The absolute only issue we've had, and continue to have, is matting-and that's driving me crazy as I try, try, try to remedy it and find a groomer who doesn't send me home w/a shaved puppy and an ugly poodle.
I'd have to look up his parents if anyone thinks they have his litter mates. He was suppose to go to a family in NY who ran across some personal problems and couldn't get to him at the last minute, so lucky us, he's ours.

Tam, I know your frustration with matting, our first LD would mat and come home looking ridiculous. The worst was when a new groomer gave him a feather duster tail and a complete shave:( We now have a great groomer for our little guy and she's been working wonders on the matting he has gotten. We live in Leesburg, VA and if you are in this area, I would be happy to recommend her to you. Your guy sounds like he is wonderful. Aren't they an amazing breed?
Thanks. I've done a ton of recent research on my doodles coat and these matting issues. I was ignorant of how to care for his coat (but I'm learning) but the only groomer we could find w/good recommendations is CLUELESS of what to do with him. Shave, shave, shave. You're too far from me, I'm near Richmond, but I appreciate your empathy. I'm sure I'll figure it out, at least I hope I do.
Your guy looks a lot like my Lola who was born at Glen Eden in August 2008. She is also apricot and also almost went to another woman I believe in New York who had medical issues and couldn't take her. I would love to see a recent pic of your LD. I am very curious to see what Lola may look like a year from now.
My Doodle Koji is apricot - born may 07 - his father is Sunshine celebration. Koji is 71 lbs, very tall and I'd say closer to Fleece. I keep Koji relatively short - up to 3" and then I cuthim down to about 3/4" and let him grow. 3" is my MAX, excetp for face and head furnishings.
