Aspen is 3 months old and has received all of her shots and has been very healthy and active. 2 nights ago around 2AM I woke up to her vomiting. I cleaned it up and thought that maybe she had eaten something that didn't settle well but by morning she had thrown up 6+ times. Every time was just a small amount of clear liquid. She seemed fine yesterday morning and played all day. I took her on a walk and she was fine.
Last night she woke me up around 5AM and was making vomit sounds and put her head down as if she was going to throw up but nothing came out and she was dry heaving. This happened about 4 more times. She woke up this morning full of energy and seems fine once again.
Her poop is completely normal and there are no other signs of sickness. Do you have any ideas on what may be causing this? Is this a reason for alarm?
My sister has a dog that was vomiting quite a bit last week. She took him to the vet and received a shot and has been fine ever since then. Aspen plays with her dog a lot so could it be some kind of virus?

Great news....
Good news!
Glad to hear that Aspen is not sick.
I really thought that the vet should have done an X-ray yesterday, just to rule out a foreign object. I hope I'm wrong, but it does sound to me like she may have ingested something she shouldn't have and is trying to bring it up. Why it only happens at night, I don't know. Is there some kind of treat or chew she only gets at night?
I agree. If the vet rules out anything more serious, a snack at bedtime would be my suggestion. I know if Guinness doesn't get his biscuit about 10:00 he will vomit, usually around 5:00 AM.
I'm wondering what they're basing that diagnosis on. Did they do any blood work? Any tests at all?
Here's some info to start your research: http://www.pcvh.com/downloads/Gastritis_in_Dogs.pdf
From the article: Tests for gastritis may include blood tests, urinalysis, abdominal x-rays, abdominal ultrasound and endoscopy. In acute cases, only minimal diagnostics such as blood and urine tests are required
