I am posting on this older post because last evening a doe and buck appeared IN MY BACKYARD here in Huntington/Centerport Long Island.  

This is a first, and although it was exciting last night, I think I am less than delighted.  They ate some hostas and caladium up there before sauntering off.  

Meantime, Quincy never noticed! 

We were busy taking pictures and he never looked up the hill.  If you look close in the second picture, which unfortunately is through the window and not clear, you can see the buck.  

This is not a rural area, although there is a golf course up the road.  

Very weird for this Brooklyn born and raised city girl to be gazing at deer from her kitchen window!  

And what about Quincy?

The deer are all over the suburbs in northern Nj. I put up deer fencing over a decade ago. My dogs will run after the deer and bark when they see them outside the fence. We are talking about culling the herd in my town.
