Having a a very bad day today. Morgan my four month old ALD was in the vet office all day and I still do not know what is wrong with her and they charged me $1000, Last night we went to bed as normal. She goes to sleep with us hand them in the middle of the night I put her in her bed next to mine. She was fine. I got up at 6am and she usually wants to follow me downstairts. She just laid still. I talked to her and she went back to sleep. I kept checking her and finally I told my husband I think she is sick. We carried her outside to make. She was very weak. She did nake sis and PoopieThen she layed down. We had to carry her into the house. Called the vet. Away for the weekend. They left a number to call. We did . We had to take her to the emergency hospital. I did notice her legs looked a little stiff. They said she must have hip dyspepsia. They said they needed xrays. We said yes. By we questioned ...why is she so weak? Could tell us yet. After an hour they called us in and said no hip dyspepsia. running blood test. We said ok? When they called us in again they said she might have broke her leg. I said what do you mean you said the exray was normal. They pulled up the exray again and said see thisx line it could be a brake. We need to send it to a radiologist for $75 dollars more but can not get the answer until tomorrow. But we coulde pay an exytra $85 TO FIND OUT in an hour.......Back to blood test they said all normal. When I started questioning why they did they tell us normal xray and twenty minutes later change their minds? It was the same xray. To make a long story short they said they doubt she has a broken leg from looking at the xray a third time. There is still no diagnosis and they sent us home with pain pills and antibiotics. I don't know what to do. I am going to bring her to my vet on Tuesday when she returns. Oh I forgot. They said she has a fever. I am so confused. One Thousand dollars and no answers. Sorry for this long post.

Just a random thought. Is it possible she ingested something? Something she shouldn't have? It's just a thought. Spike was three months old and had something similar happen. Went to bed like normal and was fine. In the morning he was weak. Dopey looking. Lethargic. Not himself. We rushed him to the vet and after intensive tests it turns out he had ingested wire.
It's just a thought.
Defiantly get her back to your vet. ASAP. Emergency vets are okay but not always thorough.
Linda, I sympathize with your frustration. Offering extra fee for immediate readings? That's seems crazy. Anyways, is he drinking/ peeing and eating/pooping? Still lethargic?
I agree. It's very strange that everything at this vet was extra extra extra. I know emergency vets are money hungry but this seems overkill.
Sorry Linda. This sounds very frustrating. I wouldn't want to go there again. Can you get the X-rays from them? At least your regular vet could see them and you wouldn't need to do it again.
Good luck to you both

I am so sorry to hear your frustrating story. I hope Morgan feels better tomorrow. The fever adds to the confusion.

Update on Morgan...We carried her outside thismorning and stood her up on her legs. She collapsed.  I have to try and find another vet open today.. Somebody has to help my dog.

Linda, so sorry to hear the news this morning. I wish I knew something to help.
Please keep us posted.
Linda, I am so sorry to hear this. I wish I knew your area so I could help you out. My thoughts are with you and Morgan. Keep us posted
So sorry to hear the news. Can't offer any suggestions but I hope you find a different vet to see her today. Will be thinking about you and Morgan. Please keep us posted.
So sorry. Definitely find a different emergency vet asap.

Do you have a veterinary school nearby? You need a specialist veterinary facility as a matter of urgency, obviously the emergency clinic is not up to the task although they seem to have perfected the art of extracting money! I am sorry you have this terrible worry right now and hope you can get answers very soon :(

This sounds like Cocoa did when she ingested something toxic. She was about 6 months old we never found out what it was, but they put her on IV fluids and whatever else they do to stabilize her. This sounds like a very odd vet practice.
