Okay I've read through some of the previous discussions and we are going to soak her pads in Epson salt but I was wondering if these are shallow enough to apply triple antibiotic? We had two full days at a public pool swimming so I know with the dog poop and pee they need to be flushed to avoid infection. We'll be at the vets office tomorrow morning but just need to get her thru tonight?? She's limping so I know it hurts. Photos attached, the one that'll be hard to see is the far left toe. TIA

Ouch. It indeed does look painful. I have no suggestions, but I would like to see the answers. Good luck finding the right treatment.

This is not bad at all, relatively speaking. JD tore his pads clean off. All of them, on both front paws. There were bloody circles where the pads had been.

I'd soak and disinfect them, apply the antibiotic ointment, and wrap them.

Thanks, we soaked briefly in Epson salt then I zapped with some betagen spray from their first aid kit, ended with aquaphor (mom just used it on some cancer spots they dug out instead of antibiotics)? We'll check in with the vet tomorrow. Meanwhile she is zapped from two days of hard pool play, hoping she won't want to play for the rest of the night. She's my needy child who has to play 24/7 and then some! She's resting in front of the fan now.

I would apply antibiotic ointment and cover them for tonight.

Surprisingly paw pads seem to heal very quickly. Quincy once had huge blisters on his pads from playing fetch on ashphalt (we only made that mistake once). They were bleeding and sore but healed in just a couple of days. I agree with F, just some antibiotic ointment and keep them covered for a few days and she should be fine.

Jolene, you might be able to put  small socks on her paws  when she goes outside to help keep the pads clean. I am so sorry she hurt them.

This happens here more often than any other injury.  We use a small, woman's sock and a hair scrunchy.

Thanks everyone. We took her into the vet this morning and they took her right away. She's still limping and the vet was concerned, said pads especially the front paw was a little too swollen and red so he prescribed an antibiotic, prednisone and a medicated wash. He mentioned he usually removes the lose pad but didn't want to on her? She's resting quietly now which is really not like her. My daughter said she slept most of the day. This is my ADHD bouncing off the wall toy crazy pup and right now she's laying quietly in front of the fan with five toys around her. We're quite the pair me with my ankle and her with her pads!

Hope the Birthday Girl heals quickly!  What do you think she did that this happened?  Just so much playing in the pool and running around this weekend?  At least she is in good hands!

Thanks Janet.  Most likely a combination of many things; two days in the water, running on the hot pavement and it probably doesn't help that we all have soft feet since I've been grounded with the foot boot/cast since May 1 so we haven't gotten out much?  Even my daughter who usually has rawhide feet is complaining! lol  Gotta tell ya though, I'm loving the calm cuddliness (this is so unlike her!)   Thanks again Ü

Let me know how she is doing. Hopefully she will be good as new soon! And hope your foot is fixed soon too!
Thank you Janet, she's actually doing better tonight, she greeted me with a toy! She's still limping though? I'm a whole nother story! Lol. New doctor new direction so maybe we'll get somewhere finally, he needs me to start physical therapy to strengthen the muscle and bone then we'll take it from there?? I've been off of it since May 1 and he can see bone/muscle loss/deterioration!
