My Luna is almost 22 weeks old.  I've recently noticed something in her left eye, near the inner corner.  I asked my husband and kids but they say they don't see anything. I've been watching this for a about a week and it seems like it comes and goes.  Or I'm seeing things which I guess is possible - LOL

It almost looks like her bottom eye lid is flipped out a little it, not a lot.  It's not red and doesn't seem to bother her.  She does get eye boogers in both eyes but I don't feel it's excessive.

I attempted a picture - see below.

Is this something to call my vet about right away or wait until my next visit.

I don't see anything that looks abnormal, but i guess it's hard to tell from a picture.

I can't really see it either.  When is your next visit?

I think what you are seeing is your dogs third eyelid and is probably only noticeable when she moves her eye a certain way.

  1. There's nothing abnormal about a dog having a third eyelid because they all have one. Thethird eyelid even has its own name: the nictitating membrane, or haw. These membranes are the same in different breeds and sizes of dogs, although the pigmentation of the third eyelid may vary from breed to breed.

Yes, that's exactly what happens. I only see it when she moves a certain way.

I think I'll ask the vet about it at my next visit but not call specifically for this.

Thank you!
