I found this interesting article on Black versus Blue color.  It pertains to Poodles, so I thought it pertinent to our Doodles.  Kona's fur is so black that her skin is blue under the fur.  I also noticed some other interesting points about black fur and saw similarities to this article (sometimes showing a little brown in the muzzle, or brown highlights, sometimes showing a few silver between the paws).

Thanks for sharing this article.  We were told our Lucy's Mom was a Blue Poodle and Lucy definitely shows those traits.  I enjoyed seeing the photos.  Here is one of her puppy pics.  She was maybe 8 months or so in this picture.

Very interesting article! Thanks for sharing!! Our Angus has some of the reddish brown tint around his snout AR 1 year old...we're hoping he stays as dark as he currently is :)

My Doodle duke has the same coloring! Interesting fact though...the reddish brown around the snout is not hereditary! It is caused by their saliva which contains porphyrins which actually stains the hair on some dogs causing it to lighten or turn red :)

Thanks for the interesting info!  Sometimes I think if they could bottle it then black dogs could also have a safe coloring alternative just like lighter colored dogs do, lol.

What an adorable Doodle!

I love the photos of both of your dogs.  The color of black doodles and blue doodles is so interesting and nuanced.
