Over the past two days,  I have noticed that Watson is sneezing (just one here or there) during the day.  In the afternoon, after his afternoon nap, he sounds like he has a stuffy nose and keeps licking his nose.  He also has a random cough, and not a coughing fit.

Yesterday, we went to a nearby pet store (one of the best around) where the store owner gave him some dehydrated turkey treats.  When we got home, he vomitted on the floor.  I thought maybe this was due to him eating something new and maybe it didn't sit well with him.

This morning he is about the same, with a random sneeze or cough here and there, but he vomitted after a short morning training session.

Are these related? should I take him to the vet?

oh, and I should mention, he went to doggy daycare for the first time last week for a temperament test

Otherwise, my pup has been happy and still bursting full of energy

Also, I'm witholding his breakfast right now, or should I feed it to him?  He is 19 weeks old..

I think I would call the vet and explain what's going on.

I agree....I'd give the vet a call.

thanks, I've been the overprotective puppy mama, rushing him to the vet for small things in the past since I'm a first time pet owner (other than hampsters.. they're SO not the same)

so I wanted to temper my reaction and check with the experience on this forum first

Please let us know what the vet says....good luck.

I would at least call the vet too. My puppy had similar symptoms - sneezing, cough - and was put on antibiotics. It was a probable upper respiratory infection. Good luck and let us know how he is!

I definitely think a vet visit is in order.

I'd visit the vet, too. Winnie had something similar at that age, and it ended up being a "cold." BTW, just like kids, there are doggy viruses they can get at daycare- some are worrisome, and some aren't. A vet check will put your mind at ease.

One other recommendation- next time you notice any sneezing or coughing, keep him away from pet stores, groomers, daycare, dogparks, etc. Viruses can spread like wildfire among dogs, so it's best to protect other dogs even if your dog isn't terribly sick.

Thanks everybody.  I have a vet appointment this afternoon.

I second the vet visit. If I'm reading this right he went to doggie daycare last week and now he is sick? To me it sounds like he might have picked something up. Ironically Spike went to our doggy daycare two weeks ago for his temperament test and he came hom with kennel cough. Even though he had his kennel cough treatment. Where we went is a reputable daycare. At our actual vet. Go figure.
The symptoms of Spike and Watson aren't the same so I don't think they have the same issue. However it does sound like Watson needs help.

I took him to the vet.  He doesn't have a fever, his lungs are clear, his heart is fine, no mucus and nothing visible up the nose.  He's not at all lethargic, still the happy, curious, playful pup.

The vet said it could be allergies and an upset stomach from the treat or a mild upper respiratory infection.  She said I could get a flu test, however the treatment would be mostly the same.

If it was allergices, she said to try giving him Claritin (due to the dosage size and his size).  She also offered Doxycycline in case it is a respiratory infection and to keep him away from other dogs.

I took the Doxycycline home but I'm going to try giving him Claritin for a day or so and see if there are any changes and if not, start the Doxycycline.

That's good....glad it wasn't anything more serious.
