I have been researching for over an hour trying to figure out what brush would be good for my curly doodle. She is very sensitive to brushing and hates it. I want to try the Activet brush but am not sure what color to get. I have failed over and over keeping her mat free so she is always having to be shaved and I am determined to master this. I have been leaning towards the green due to her hating to be brushed. Any ideas?

Thanks for your help!!!

We have a green LES POOCHES brush and a green activet double.  Our absolute favorite brush however is this one http://www.amazon.com/Master-Grooming-ProGrip-Flexible-Slicker/dp/B... !  Highly recommend!

Thank you! I was leaning towards the green. Will check out the other brush too!

Can you tell me why you like this brush so much?  Is it good for taking out mattes around the neck area? I have a Chris Christinsen  brush that I am using now.

Thanks,

Faith  and Zowie.

Faith, Many of us swear by the Activet brushes and many swear by the CC ones.  It is a matter of your dog's coat and what YOU think works best and lasts longest for the money.

I have a FI golden. Seems like I can never get all the mattes out.  Do you think this brush would be good for that?  Also, any ideas for shampoo and cond?

Thanks,

Faith

I recommend Horse Mane 'N Tail Detangler spray as well as Cowboy Magic for detanglers and getting mats out.  Both brands make shampoos also.  When you brush you also need to comb.  I use either a graduated toothed steel comb or one called the Untangler.  Spray an area, let it sit a minute or two, brush, then comb.

Thanks so much.

Green is more flexible.  We have green, purple and red.  We use the single wide.   Ned hates being brushed but it is a fact of his life so we make him. :-{

Thanks!

For curly coats always use the red Activet. I am a Doodle coat expert teaching people to groom their own dog and green will brush over the tangles, purple will get stick in the coat. Please read my blog on this subject and my ebook (which you can find on my DK page :-) Also there a wrong ways and right ways to brush that cause your Doodle to love or hate it. I have a blog on that too ;-) If you want to know more please contact me. Good luck!

I was afraid red would be tough on her skin. She acts like I am killing her when I brush her :/

if you e-mail Kemp at the Doodle Country Store with a photo of your doodle he will tell you which Les Poochs brush you need.  Kemp is a member here and he supports many of the giveaways that Adina has.
