Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi,
It seems like my 8 month old goldendoodle is always hungry. Right now he is eating Petcurean GO! Sensitivity and Shine. We had TONS of issues with his digestive system and this is the only food he's been able to tolerate. He's probably close to 60 lbs and eats 1.5 cups twice daily and it seems like he could eat non stop. When I feel his ribs he feels perfect, definitely not underweight... I have actually been concerned that he looks like he's getting a little pudgy but I couldn't imagine feeding him less.
Should I be feeding him more?

I'm not sure which formula these guidelines are for, but if Ashley is feeding the Sensitivity & Shine Limited Ingredient Duck formula, she's not feeding him enough. She should definitely be using the "puppy" guideline, and for a puppy between 50-70 lbs, the recommended daily amount is 3 & 3/4 to 4 & 1/2 cups per day. No wonder he's hungry!

There's Sensitivity and Shine Duck and Sensitivity and Shine Limited Ingredient Duck... I didn't realize there was a difference until recently.
Ashley, see my response above. I don;t know which formula you're using, but if it's the one I think it is, you're underfeeding him.
Thanks Karen! I'm actually not using the Limited Ingredient Diet... It's just the regular Duck formula. The bag I have says 2 3/4 - 3 3/4. I've been feeding him 3 cups maybe a little more. But maybe I should bump him up to about 3 1/2 and see if that helps?
I'm really surprised that that formula works for him if he has digestive issues. Most dogs with any type of digestive issues need a limited ingredient formula.
I'd bump it up to 3 and 1/2 cups a day and see if that helps.
I am too! I originally bought it from my vet, which is the regular duck formula, but I ran out once and had to run down to a local groomer to get some and they gave me free samples to hold me over until my order came in and that was when I noticed it was different so I looked in to it. I think I will switch him over to the limited ingredient though because he does still have an occasional loose stool
Depends on the expected adult size. You follow the puppy feeding guidelines until skeletal growth is complete, which is usually between 9-12 months for standards and earlier for mediums and minis.
Oh this is good to know! Thanks!
