Hudson is doing much better since his last diarreah
Attack three weeks ago. Per Karen's recommendation and
Our vet, we did a fast food switch to Zignature Kangaroo
So that we could get him on a new single protein and
Limited ingredient diet so that his body would not be used to this protein and
We could see if this could help his monthly attacks.

So far so good. My only question is he seems super hungry.

The bag recommends 1 cup and a half a day and he weighs 28-29
Pounds. He is also a miniature doodle and is 1 year old
And has probably reached his max weight.

I know this food is higher in substance but wanted to see if you thought
I should feed him more? He's has been super hungry and waiting in the kitchen for me
And he was never like this before. Thanks!

One other thing, he is on a strict diet , just this food and nothing else, no treats where as before he would get a couple small treats a day.

I'm guessing that he's so eager for his food because he really likes it. That's pretty common when you introduce something new. The calorie content in 1.5 cups is just about right for his age and weight. I have a feeling that as time goes by, he'll seem less eager at mealtime. :)

Is there any possibility that the monthly diarrhea is related to him getting his HW and/or flea/tick meds? You might want to try to keep an eye on that if it happens again. I hope it doesn't, though.

Thank you! Perfect, he will just need to get adjusted to his new portion of food!

The diarreah typically comes every 1.5 to 2 months but that is possibility.

Maybe I should skip those meds for a month to see?

The problem with his illness spurt that happens every couple

Of months since we got him is that his whole say ten clears out every time

And I have never seen anything like this with a dog, also tons of straining and squatting
Multiple times. I'm just worried it colitis.

The other thing that is still in my head is the giarddia thing, since
He's had that parasite for the majority of his puppy hood I'm thinking
Maybe that's still in him even though all tests came back negative.

Ugh so many possibilities , thank you for your help!

Next stop is the internal specialist if it happens again :(

No, now that you've refreshed my memory on the whole history, I doubt it's the prevents. You are giving a probiotic, right? That's important.

I would not skip the preventatives, although you typically don;t need them between Dec. 1st and somethime in March if you live in an area that has freezing temperatures throughout the winter.

I agree that a specialist should be the next step if the diarrhea returns.

Yes! I ordered the Proviable DC like you recommended and he's been on them for 3 days.

Praying that this works!

Thank you so much for all of your amazing advice.
