Hi all, I'm so distraught.  Paz had a fatty tumor on his side, that had been aspirated and was just fatty tissue.  This morning, the vet found 3 lumps on Paz, all on his left side; she aspirated them and sent them to the pathologist and I'm hoping to get the results tomorrow.  She said they must rule out lymphoma, and it could possible be a sign of infection, so she also took a complete blood panel.  She said they looked like inflammatory cells under the microscope, but she is not a pathologist, therefore would not venture a guess.  I'm just an absolute mess; I can't stop shaking.  Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience.

My thoughts are with you and Paz this morning.  Waiting and praying too.

Thinking of you and Paz this morning. Praying for good news with your update.

We are glad that you are in the best possible hands this morning. Praying for you.

Thinking of you and watching for update!

Hi All,

This is the first chance I've had to let everyone know Paz's status.  We met with the oncologist this morning, and he was absolutely wonderful.  The bad news is that Paz has lymphoma, the good news is that there is a good chance he will respond to treatment.  Needless to say, there are no guarantees, but I have incredible confidence in this doctor, his honesty and compassion.   Paz spent the entire day at the hospital where they did extensive testing, ultrasound, xrays and started his first chemo treatment.  The doctor and entire staff said they never met a dog with such an incredibly calm disposition.  no matter what they did, Paz was a champ......that's my boy!  I know that the road ahead is rough, but I also know that Paz is in the best hands and that is reassuring.  The doctor said he can't work while on chemo, which will take 16 weeks, but should be able to return when chemo is complete.   We also discussed the issue about early spay neuter and it's relationship to lymphoma and bone disorders.  The doctor said there is lots of controversy, however he supports early spay neuter, but not until 6 months at the earliest.  Definitely something for all of us to explore.   I also wanted to urge everyone to  make certain they have medical insurance for their beloved doodles.  Thank goodness I have Trupanion which covers 90% of all the costs with no cap.   The doctor said Trupanion is the best company to deal with and they will reimburse rapidly with no difficulty.   Today's bill was almost $4,000 and it is such a relief knowing that I won't have to beg, borrow or steal to cover this.  I suspect the entire treatment will be about $30,000 and Trupanion will cover most of it.  Paz is acting like his old self right now.  He's on prednisone which is part of the treatment, so he's thirsty and is begging for more food......I would give him a porterhouse steak if I could, but not such a good idea. You are all amazing and I'm not sure I could do this without your support.  I'll keep you posted tomorrow.  Paz is scheduled for 16 weeks of treatment, but he is a champ and all your prayers are so very meaningful to us.  Bigs hugs and love from me and Paz.

Thanks so much for the update.     It sounds like Paz is in the best of hands!    Keeping you both in my prayers.

Thank you for the update.  I'm so happy to hear that you and Paz are in very good hands.  That is both a relief and a blessing. I know this is far from over but at least this first step is comforting and positive. I love that Paz is acting like his old self. Will be keeping you both in my prayers.

Thanks for the update...I have been checking compulsively lol. With Paz's young age and excellent health and disposition, I am sure he has the best chance. Xo
Thank you so much for the update. I kept checking my email all day to hear about Paz. It sounds as though he is in very good hands. He is a lucky doodle to have you as his mom. Keeping both of you in our thoughts and prayers. xxo

So sorry for you and Paz, sadly I know what you're going through.  My Molly was diagnosed last Dec.  She did wonderfully with the chemo, she actually was excited to go every week for her treatments.  The office said they never had such a happy chemo patient.  She never acted sick, I noticed swollen lymph nodes and took her in to see what it was.  She handled the chemo very well too.

Interesting about the spay/neuter part.  I hadn't heard anything about that.  Molly was spayed just before her 1st birthday, I got her from a rescue.  My other doodle, Sadie, was spayed just after she turned 6 mos and she hasn't had any issues, I got her as a pup from a breeder.

Pawsitive thoughts for you and Paz and will watch for updates on how he is doing.

So grateful for hope! So grateful for good insurance. You all will continue to be in my prayers
Thank you for the update. Sending prayers and positive thoughts to you and Paz. Glad to hear you have a vet you like and trust. We are pulling for Paz!
