I just wanted to say hello, I'm new to the group.

Hi,

I just wanted to say hi to everybody, I'm new to the forum, and to the world of doodles :)

I've been researching extensively for the last week on what new dog I'd like to have in my life, and I've narrowed it down to either a goldendoodle, or ladradoodle(leaning heavily towards a goldendoodle). I live in a house in the city(Toronto), and I have a HUGE yard for my new family member, but I can't seem to make up my mind which dog is best for me.
I live in a household with children that range from 3 - 14, so I'd like to know which is best suited for a house like that. I'm well aware that teaching the kids to respect the new dogs boundaries is a MUST, so I'll be spending time teaching them long before the new pet even steps foot in the house lol

That's it for now, I've done lots of research and plan on doing more, but I'd like to know what your experience is with doodles in a household with smaller children?

Hi Stephen,  I have a 20lb mini goldendoodle and she LOVES kids.  My step daughter has a 25 lb  mini goldendoodle, same parents as mine, different litter, and hers LOVES kids too.  They love to play with the kids and they are both gentle. They both are very tolerant when the kids get a bit too rambunctious...although we both try to stop that.

I don't have any experience with the labradoodles...but my guess is a lot to do with how they are socialized with kids and make sure you take the pup for training early.  It's good to let the kids gently handle them a lot when they are little.

Thanks, it's nice to know that they are as good with kids as I've read online.

Now I just need to start buying all the supplies I need before I go searching for my new pet, and making sure I find a good place to train him(and me) lol
