we had the plastic tray that came with the crate as the bottom and then used cotton blankets and sheets.
we tried the polyester dog beds, but found our pup was getting too hot laying on those. he always pushed it up to lay on the plastic.
once I switched to cotton, he enjoyed the soft comfy pile. if your buddy like the tile, I bet he gets hot quickly.
try cotton. even cotton towels work well.
We use an old throw blanket, but Lincoln usually pushes it aside and sleeps on the plastic bottom. He doesn't like a bed out of the crate either. He likes to lay on the floor
I bought a crate liner bed and Jaxson pushed it aside and laid on the plastic. I was figuring he was too hot too. So unless it's cold, I don't put anything it in and he lays on the plastic.
We have an exercise pen attached to his crate. The bed is in his crate and we leave a blanket with a few toys and water out in the pen. He moves from bed to tiles in the night. I think sometimes he likes the comfy, sometimes he likes the cool. We buy beds at TJ Maxx and Costco. He ate through one in the beginning. He seems to be over that phase now. I like the ones that have washable covers. I have been thinking about getting him a chilly mat for the summer, but unsure if he might eat it...
