OK.... so my dog can sit, laydown, give paw, sit and watch me, leave it, drop it, come etc all with just hand commands and me not even talking except he is not picking up potty training....
He won't even sniff around to give me a heads up.... I always am watching him or have him on a leash and yet he still doesn't get it.... Any ideas on how to help this situation?
He is just over 4 months old now.

My two year old was like that. I'm retired so it was outside every hour or so. Come up with a phrase to use. Mine is Go Potty
Praise, praise, praise when he goes outside. When I would catch him going in the house I would say eh eh loudly and bring him outside immediately. To this day he will not bark or whine to go out. He will sit in front of the door. His little brother was much easier and it very vocal.
He can go potty on command when we are outside! I stop him mid stream and take him out and give him a treat or praise him with pets when he goes.... I do it all!!!! :(
It sounds like you are doing all the right things. If you type potty training into the search box multiple discussions come up. Maybe read through those and pull out some tips from other people.
We have the same problem. Baylor is 4 months. The back door is always open ( with a door screen) he can come and go as he likes. Still, he'll go potty outside, then 20 minutes later without a sign or bark there goes the Baylor faucet. He is very active and drinks water all the time. Vet said if it continues she'll run a urine test. We continue to watch his every move and train train train. Greatest dog ever !
Hello Jess, I thought Chappie was potty trained. He is 5 months old today, and a terrific pup, just had him neutered Tues, BUT last night after I fed him and an hour after I had walked him, he peed on the kitchen floor. Fortunately I almost caught him in the act, and took him outside. He goes through the night no problem, he hadn't peed in the house for weeks. Chappie would not ring the bells I had on the front door for 8 weeks, but I am home most of the time, and when I am not he goes inside a crate, and doesn't pee in his crate. He had been signaling by coming to me and jumping or going to the front door. Hopefully this last episode is due to the neutering and it won't happen again. I was so proud of him!! Back to the drawing board. PS: at lease he is not licking his wound from neuter. We took off the cone yesterday. Dee
Have you tried training with bells? That was the only method I started teaching Orwell and he picked it up right away even if he couldn't hold it in a couple of times when he was really young on the way to the door.
