Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Has anyone heard of this food? I just watched Ellen Degeneres on QVC. She was selling Halo. It sounds like a great product. I was thinking of buying it and trying it. I'm happy with the Innova I use but it just sounds so good, I was tempted to try it. They had a vet on too. They all recommended using both wet and dry food (mixing the 2). I never heard that they should eat both but it makes sense. Any info anyone has would be great.

I tried this food for my large goldendoodle, it has very small kibble which concerned me , but I did give it a try and he did
not like it, I had a hard time getting him to eat it and he has never been that picky. But every dog is different and
has his own taste. I do agree about the can and dry kibble, it gives them variety and is healthy for them , mixing the two together makes them enjoy the dry kibble better too.

In general, it is not a good idea to make purchase decisions based on the opinion of the person who is selling the product, whether they are veterinarians or any other profession. When was the last time you heard the pitchman (or woman) say that the product they were selling was NOT a great product. So the opinions of the salespeople on QVC are, to me, meaningless.
Most canine nutritionists agree that fresh foods are nutritionally best, followed by canned and kibble at the bottom. (The quality of all these matters, too.) Using a variety of kinds helps ensure that your dog is getting everything he needs in a variety of forms. You can mix kibble & canned foods from ANY line, not just this one. Innova makes canned food, too, and is an excellent quality commercial food. I have no personal knowledge of "Halo". According to Lynne's info above, it seems fine, but I would not switch from a high quality food that is working for your dog just because of the way a TV personality and a paid-to-endorse veterinarian made this food sound.
Don't take the word for it from any vet or person. Do research continually as the industry changes and products change and your dog changes.
Yeah, that is what I did before we got Beckett. I researched so many foods that I was driving myself crazy! I do like Innova and will probably stay with that. I might try adding wet sometimes. Do you add the wet everytime you feed them? Do you give a whole can or just add alittle mixed into the dry?
I free feed Innova Evo or TOTW or other premium kibble that I change every other bag or so. And I homecook the main meal once a week and freeze. Come read some of the discussions here in the Food Group and you'll read all I really do. I'll never trust ANY commercial dogfood again. Because of the dogfood recalls of 2007, I lost my dog (the picture of Magic on the main screen of this group, she was mine). I have been homecooking ever since. Never stop researching...that's my best advice.
