Is it really common for dogs to skip heartbeats?

Yogi was laying on my lap tonight and I noticed his heartbeat seems to skip about every third or fourth beat. I was alarmed and started looking online because it's already after 9:30pm and we are not in town with our regular vet.
I see many references to the fact that it is usually nothing to be alarmed about in dogs. I'm just wondering if this is a common occurence with you DK'ers? He seems fine, breathing is normal, he's had a normal day of exercise, eating, drinking, etc.

If he seems fine I would not be alarmed. I have never taken my dogs' pulse so I have no idea. I guess you could talk to your vet tomorrow.

Many dogs have normal sinus arrhythmias which may feel like a skipped beat.
