I'm looking to buy my puppy a collar. Does anybody have recommendations? We aren't getting the pup for two weeks. I've read some people like "rolled" collars to prevent matting. Thank you!

Chappie's first collar was a tiny one I got at Petco, it was probably only 1/4 inch wide.  As he grew, I ordered a small collar from Orvis with a plastic snap.  It has my cell phone number inprinted on it, as well as his name,  it is only about 1/2 inch wide.  No matting whatsoever.   He is not a puller on the leash, so I don't have to worry about a neck collar, besides he didn't like a harness/halter al all.  Hope this helps.   Dee PS:  Chappie is a mini ALD, his adult weight will not be over 20 lbs, now he is about 18 lbs at 5 months old.

Our pup will be standard sized. Est weight 60-70 lbs

Orvis makes collars that will fit larger dogs as well, with name and phone number.  My pup is  curley fleece, and the collar he has doesn't mat the hair at all.

When I was searching for a collar for my new puppy, I ran across a red western paisley collar that I not only liked but also sealed my pups name (Sassparilla)! Four and a half years later she still has the same collar which by the way comes with a lifetime warranty! They have tons of patterns to choose from and of all the collars I've ever owned for my dogs this one is really made well. Google search Lupine dog collars you won't be sorry.
On a side note; Josie the smaller brown and white dog in the pic has gone through about six collars in the same timeframe (3 months between them) My daughter chooses Josie's collars and she's never selected a Lupine! I'm thinking I need to take charge and order one? Lol
Thank u. Still don't know if we are getting male or female. We have 5th pick of 9!

How exciting.  Chappie is our first doodle, and we are so "in love", he is the sweetest, lovable puppy we have ever had.   No chewing issues, potty training was fairly easy, no poops in house ever, but pee was a different story.  I still don't trust him unless he goes out every 2 or 3 hours.  He does go all night though, and that is good.  The food issue was and is still a problem.  Can't seem to get the loose stools under control.   No fever, no loss of appetite, no worms, etc.  Will see if the new prebiotic works.   Dee

We have had multiple collars and each seemed to serve a purpose. We do like the leather rolled collars for quick trips out. However in our case, until they got older and had good leash manners I didn't use them for walking. We do now though and I do like them for less matting.
We have also used more of a harness at times when we were training them to not pull when walking. We used petsafe easywalk. Many people like that one.
I recommend them both :-)

Annabelle has the Lupine and I love it. The first collar I ever bought for her was a cute little ladybug one from Blueberry. At 3 months old, she figured out how to get out to undo the clasp. The next collar I bought her was a buckle one from Petsmart. She chewed through it. I finally wised up and got the Lupine. I did get a few different patterns, so we change off every so often. I don't like Lupines leashes though, I use the ones from Coastal. For walking I use a Ruffwear harness. There are 2 different places to hook the leash depending on if your dog is a puller or not.

Here is one of her Lupine collars.

I love the leather rolled collars. They help with matting and are also easy on the hands when you need to grab your pup!
I like the hydro collars. They are bright colored and you can get ADORABLE decorations. And the best part is that it does not cause matting! I love them! We have several! She link below.
