Lynn, I have a very strong 6 month male goldendoodle. I have tried at least five different collars and two different harnesses. The best thing you can do for you and your dog and have complete control and quick learning on your pups part is a pronged collar. A martingale collar is great if you can manage to keep it very high on neck behind ears. And gently hold the lead straight up at your hip. We just finished basic obedience and Yankee was the biggest dog and the youngest in his class, everyone could tell a difference the last two classes on how well he was responding. Harnesses were worse than a plain collar with my pup. You can have a pronged collar fitted at a good pet store and they will show you how to use as well.
We do. That particular brand/harness was recommended by our trainer. It's ok. Pluses are it's easy to put on. He walks well on it, though I'm not sure any better than any other front ring harness. My issue with it is Beckett is on the small side of the weight range, so there is a big tail (for lack of better description) that sticks out in front with ring at end. I can take a picture if that doesn't make sense.

I have never used it, so I really can't advise.  I have always felt that collars and harnesses are only tools, and the key to a good walk is obedience training.
