Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello! My little baby is 11 weeks old and I want to start brushing his coat now to get him used to it when he's older! I've been told slicker brushes work well for goldendoodles! While shopping, I noticed there are soft and firm slicker brushes. I was wondering if anyone on here has used a slicker brush and would you recommend soft or firm!
Thanks so much!!

Annabelle had soft wispy hair when we brought her home. I bought a JW slicker brush that I used the first couple of months. It worked pretty well. Then I ordered a Chris Christensen T brush. I also have various steel combs and a LesPooches mat zapper.

Thank you so much!

Les Pooches brushes here.  Expensive but worth it.  I would also recommend that in addition to brushing you play with the feet and the ears and practice rolling over to brush the belly.  All things that will be needed down the road.

Thank you!!!
I had this same question. I bought a slicker brush and a pin brush. I found the slicker brush too intense for my dog's puppy coat. I think the pin brush is perfect to get the pup used to a brushing routine. I plan to purchase a more expensive brush once my pup gets his adult coat in.

I found I could use just a simple soft flexible Conair pro with a small head.  At about 6 months, I invested in the Les Pooches brushes.  You really need to be careful with this long tined brushes and make sure you are brushing correctly and with correct pressure - try it on yourself first so you can feel what your dog is feeling.  I still use the little brush I got 5 years ago, on their faces.  I also use a rotating toothed comb.  Be sure to join the grooming group - there are lots of tips there.  Your doodle is a cutie!

Thank you so much! I just love him:) I'm a brand new dog owner so everything is a brand new experience! Is the grooming group part of doodlekisses or another page?!

The grooming group is right here at Doodlekisses. There are all kinds of groups to join. I linked a few you might be interested in to get started.
