Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
My 14 month old Goldendoodle has always been scared to jump into my SUV Kia Sorento. He now jumps out but I have to lift his back legs so he can get in. Does anyone have a good solution? My back is bad; I should not be lifting him so I am looking for suitable steps. He usually sits in the front passenger seat with a seat belt on.
Thanks, Lisette

Can you move the front passenger seat back far enough that there is room for him to get in at floor level, and then he can get onto the seat from there? My guy has a ruptured lumbar disc and can't jump, but he can easily get into my SUV at floor level and then climb onto the seat. We do it in the back seat, but it should work in front, too.
Also, some of us here have found that the door of the vehicle MUST be open as wide as it goes. A lot of dogs are afraid to jump in with the door partially open. We had a discussion about that here once.
LOL, it was your discussion from last October!

I must not have been clear. I really need to find suitable steps. I am looking for recommendations for steps. I can't deal with this problem any longer. I should not be lifting him.
I didn't realize you meant actual steps, like stairs. I thought you meant it as "what steps can I take". :)
I think most people whose dogs can't get into the car on their own and are too big to lift use ramps.
Something like this:

We used portable steps that we purchased on Amazon when Guinness was a puppy and too small to jump onto our bed. I really think a portable ramp like this would be much easier to use to get the dog into the car. The steps are a bit large and not as easy to put up and take away.
I also bought steps for Jack to get onto my bed. He wouldn't go near them. If I even tried pointing them out to him, he'd leave the room. I think that he'd be less hesitant to use a ramp.
Thank you.
Thanks
Lisette, somehow you posted this discussion twice, which may cause confusion if you have responses in both.. You can delete the other one as long as nobody has responded. Once they do, all you can do is close it, so I'd do it now, lol:

I don't know how I did that but thank you. I just deleted the other.
