Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
After just going through a case of acute Pancreatitis with Guinness I thought it would be helpful to post the things that I've learned about this disease.
I hope this information is helpful...but that you never need it.

Laura~ I am so sorry to her your doodle is not feeling well. Hopefully, she will be back to feeling well very soon.
Thank you, Linda! Today has been a better day. I was pretty scared this past week! We saw the Internist today. He is really smart and explained things very well. Melody doesn't seem in danger of being in the percentage of dogs who do not survive this kind of incident. We have to wait to see what transpires, though, to determine what kind of changes we might need for her down the road. It may be acute peritonitis, it may be chronic, or it may be an autoimmune issue with her bowel. At least for now she is safe...we can live with adjustments!
How are you?????
So happy to hear she is doing better. I see you are from the Portland area - we are not that far from each other - we live in Richland WA.
Linda! Yes, we are in Portland. Coming up your way on Aug. 27th for a concert! How are you?????
pancreatitis, not peritonitis!
Lauria, I am so sorry to read that Melody is unwell. I hope, like Jane's Guinness, this is the only episode she has. Please keep us posted.
I'm so sorry to hear that Melody has been ill. Please let us know how she is doing.
Hello there!
Thank you for your kind interest in my Melody. She continues to do well. A week into this, her brother Morgan started vomiting and also had bloody diarrhea, like Melody. His pancreatic enzymes were 4X higher than Melody's and I was petrified. We did home SQ fluids with them both, and after 2 weeks and one day, Melody finally had some oral fluids....about that long after Morgan was ill, he followed suit. They are both eating, drinking, having normal bowel movements and peeing. I hope there is no recurrence, and we still do not know what happened. The only abnormal tests were white blood count and pancreatic enzyme elevation. Exposure to organic phosphates, cultures, parasites, etc. were clear. I watch them like a hawk when they are outside. They eat Taste of The Wild Fowl, and I have changed that in the case it might be too rich. It is one day at a time, and we are pleased they seem more themselves than ever! Thank you again......
Glad to hear this.
Morgan too??? Oh my! So glad to hear that they are both doing well now. What a scary time for you!
I am very glad that both dogs are doing well. It must have been something contagious since they both got it?
