Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi! My husband and I and our 5 kids are excited to welcome an F1B mini english goldendoodle into our home next month. (Gender unknown. We are pick 8 of 10.)  Our biggest roadblock to pet ownership has been our 12 year old's allergies, so we are hoping and praying and crossing fingers that this will be the right pet for us! This site has been so helpful. I love all the puppy, food, grooming, misc info I am reading in the different groups.

Anyway, I would LOVE to hear your FAVORITE ASPECT OF YOUR DOODLE? (Since a main objective of sites like this is to get support and suggestions for problems or concerns, it can admittedly get a little overwhelming reading about mainly the problems, ha ha.  But I know the blessings are out there too - so I would love you to share those!)

Also, I would love to hear any other favorites you want to share! Favorite tips, favorite toys, favorite activities, favorite treats, favorite crate training tips, etc.  (I know a lot of this info is available on the site already.  It is such a great resource.)

I look forward to continuing to gain knowledge and help from my Doodle Kisses buddies.  Hope you and your dogs are all having a great day!

Congrats on your new addition! Our favorite aspect is Riley's personality. Sweet, goofy and smart. She definitely makes us laugh and our hearts melt. I have to remind myself of that as I drag myself out of my warm bed to take her out into the blistering cold in the winter. Take lots of pics because they grow super fast!

Riley is so cute. Thanks for your response! It helps.  And makes me grateful I live in the desert! :) Although we have blistering heat to deal with.

I suppose I should have said blustering cold since you have blistering heat. :-)

Congratulations on your new puppy!  We brought our double doodle home almost 6 months ago and I couldn't ask for a better fit for our family.  I have had pet allergies my whole life and have been fine with our doodle.  Not all doodles are good for people with allergies, but ours has been a blessing.

She is super sweet, loyal, smart, and curious.  Some days are tougher than others, but it is really worth it.  My kids also love her.

Here are some favorite things.... * Snuggle Puppy (Molly slept through the night from day one and I think this really helped.  We have had other puppy issues, but sleep wasn't one of them, lol).  * Puppy Kindergarten was really helpful for me and Molly.  *  Something to play tug with.  *  A variety of toys.  *  A member recently recommended the Sleepypod Clickit Sport harness for the car.  We just went on vacation and it is wonderful.  This site is full of many more things.

Good luck and post some pictures!

Glad to hear you are loving Molly and your allergies have been fine! Gives me hope. Thanks for sharing so many favorites too! I'm almost afraid to ask, but want to be prepared for every possibility - what have been your puppy issues with Molly?

She is the best puppy, I hope I didn't scare you with saying "puppy issues" :)  We had a choice between 2 puppies when we picked Molly (we were 4th in line for the girls).  Our breeder was fantastic and this is what she said about each puppy.  Puppy #1: She is the most content, gentle easy going puppy.  She will lay on your lap or in your arms for as long as you let her.  She has a soft personality and is such a love.  She is a gentle spirit.  Puppy #2:  She has spunk to her and likes to explore everything.  She is a super happy puppy with a zest for life. She is just the friendliest puppy and loves everything.  She is not stubborn, but if left to her own thinking – she would probably do what she wanted.

So, you can guess, we decided to get puppy #2.  She is a perfect fit for our active, crazy family.  So, she is a very friendly and energetic puppy (we wouldn't have it any other way).  We had some mouthing issues in the beginning (read what it says in the puppy madness group if you haven't yet).  I also had to work with my kids, because they would get her so excited and had to adjust to the consistency with training.  She is also really smart.  It has just taken time, practice, and love.  The older she gets, the more she gets things.  Joining a puppy kindergarten class was also pretty helpful for me.  She got to socialize and we both got to learn things.

Sorry for the long response.  I was just where you are 6 mths ago and remember how exciting it all is.  I can wait to see your new puppy!!

I have a 11month labradoodles..I love him so much. He i loving and very smart. Watch out for your socks. He has a great personality. He has chewed things but I never get mad at him. Just looking a his face I melt..he weighs 46 Pds and he is black and white. Good luck with your new puppy. Just love and spoil him.

He is so cute! Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful experience having him.

Very happy for you and you new addition! Wonderful companion/family members. First time puppy daddy and when it comes to the initial minutes or hours of crate training yours may be just like many and once in the crate sweet puppy whimpers like death is kicking in the door-ignore them and in a small amount of time they will adjust, if ignored properly (Puppy mommy sat on a stool scooted away and turned away from her then left the area) rather then give it any attention/reward for that behavior. When my wife began crate training ours early one morning (unbeknownst to me) I thought the puppy was stuck in the dryer or something, but she was just adjusting to her new crate and within an hour she was quiet and has been since.  Have a wonderful time with your new loved one! Paisley here from her first night with us was at 6 pounds, today at 11 months she is 53 pounds and we could not be happier! Be well!

She is adorable! Your dryer story made me laugh! So funny. It is good to be prepared for all these possibilities.  I appreciate you sharing with me!

Too many things to list, but I think the one that tops the list is watching them play. We have two (litter mate brothers) that are now 3 years old. They run, romp, tussle, chase and act like wild men several times a day. Other times, they do my second most favorite thing - cuddle and sleep.

I am definitely hoping for a good balance of play, cuddle, and sleep also! Thanks so much for sharing. Your dogs are adorable.
