I do. One of the best LID foods out there, IMO. Jack does great with it.

Oh good! If you blessed it Karen it must be good! I'm thinking of starting yeti on the salmon and potato.

As you may remember, yeti has had 2 bouts of completely random diarrhea.  We have had him since May 1st. (We keep a very close eye on him when he is outside. My boyfriend or I always go out with him so he never is truly alone. However, I know things can happen in a second so it is possible that he ate something that upset his belly. His favorite things to snag outside are small pine cones, leaves, and bunny poop. I am never afraid to put my fingers in his mouth to fish things out though).

Both times has fecal exams done that came up negative. Started him on proviable DC about a month ago and have been giving him two capsules a day since we got it. After his firs bout, he got prescribed metronidazole and took it for 5 days. (We for the proviable on day 3 of his medicine). Once off that he had normal stool for about 2 weeks. It became soft and mucusey for a couple days and then it was full blown diarrhea. Since the fecal was negative again the second time we were not perscribed anything. We just gave him a bland diet for about 7 days.

Tomorrow will be his first full day back on pro plan. He currently eats the chicken and rice formula for puppies. I'm keeping my fingers crossed his stool stays normal for 2 weeks so we can switch him over successfully.

The vet mentioned a possibility of a sensitive tummy which is why I'm considering switching him to wellness simple. Do you think that's crazy Karen? By the time we try new food he will be 5 months old. Well he be okay even though it's not a "puppy" formula. I decided on salmon because I heard fish can be easier on a sensitive stomach.

If we are able to switch him to wellness simple, what kinds of treats do you recommend? Right now we use his kibble (he doesn't really notice a difference between food and treats). We also give him cloud star tricky trainers liver flavor. Since he has been on a bland diet we have pretty much just been giving him squished up chicken and sweet potato rolled into a small ball. He goes crazy for that.

I think it would probably be better to discuss Yeti's tummy issues in your other discussion about this. It's possible that he has a sensitive stomach, but my feeling is still that the problem is the antibiotics and that it will just take time and probiotics for his digestive system to straighten out. However, he really should be off the Purina anyway, so might as well switch him now.

Lots of puppies never eat "puppy" formulas, and they do fine with all-life stages foods.

Fish isn't any easier on a sensitive stomach than most other proteins. The salmon/potato formula is a good choice, though. The turkey/potato formula would also be a good option for Yeti. Jack eats the salmon/potato formula, but Jack has IBD and can't have any of the other proteins in the Simple Solutions line. Once Yeti's been eating the new food for a month and is doing well with it, you can even rotate between the two formulas, and possibly try the others down the road too.

For treats, I'd use Pure Bites turkey or chicken.

My ALD Scrabble has had digestive issues since we have had him. On Karen's suggestion, we put him on Wellness Simple salmon and potato. He has never done well on any turkey formula. He also has a Proviable capsule each morning. He is doing very well finally. Thanks so much to Karen and her knowledge and kindness! I also use Pure Bites chicken as a treat. I also have a 2 year old cockapoo on Scrabble's food. She doesn't have any food issues, but it's great to just be using one food.

I'm so glad the food is working for your dogs, Judy!

Thank you so much Karen!! If it turns out that it was just the antibiotics and not a sensitive stomach will and LID be bad for him? Should I just switch him to wellness for now and if his tummy troubles continue then switch him to their simple line.
Thank you so much Judy! I wasn't sure if we should switch him off a puppy formula because he is only 5 months but I think it'll be best for him. I will look into pure bites chicken treats!!

Thank you thank you. I have been trying to find a food that doesn't give my dogs diarrhea and they are excited to eat. I actually found this site through google searches and my dogs love Fromm's large breed adult/puppy dog food. One on each.
They started their new food 2 days ago and finally have solid poops today. This is also the first day my 8 month old puppy didn't end up with accidents in the middle of the night due to diarrhea.

So glad you found something that works for your dogs!

Wonderful that you found a quality food that works for your dogs!  I'll bet you are so relieved.

Oh you have no idea... both are still growing puppies and I know for a fact it's harder to grow when you can't keep the nutrients inside long enough to process them.

Cloudstar is now making dog food under the name "WellMade". Kibble, dehydrated raw, and canned formulas are all grain free. Added to our list.
