Exercise and eating schedule

Hello! I know it's not good to heavily exercise your dog after eating. I've seen on here the general rule of thumb is to wait 30 minutes after eating to play. However, I was wondering if there was any kind of rule of exercise before eating.
As Yeti gets older, his need for more exercise is growing haha. I've been thinking about taking him for a morning walk but the only time would be right before he eats. The schedule would look something like
6:40am walk until 7-7:10 then eat at 7:15. Is that too soon?

A brief potty walk before a meal is okay, but they really should not eat anything for 30 minutes after real exercise. The rule of thumb is not to exercise them within 30 minutes before or after eating.

Karen - Are the smaller Doodles less prone to bloat? Is it a weight thing?

It's not so much about weight as build. Breeds with deep, narrow chests such as Standard Poodles, are at the highest risk. There are many factors.  Here's some info: http://www.goldenrescuestlouis.org/Bloat.asp

Oh thank you thank you thank you!!! Yeti loves laying down while he eats. He did so while a friend was over and they told me not to let him do that because it'll flip his stomach. Have you heard of that?

That's simply untrue.

I know several owners of high risk breeds who have the dogs' stomachs tacked when they are spayed/neutered as a precaution.

Is this harmful to dogs? I have never heard of it.

No, it's not harmful, it's proactive surgery to prevent the stomach from twisting.

I see! I will mention it to our vet when we talk more about his neutering. Thank you for the info I have never heard of tacking the stomach!!
