yesterday I had Daisy bathed at the day care she goes to. When I picked her up the lady said she may have ear infection cause the wax she cleaned out smelled. I had noticed a little yeasty smell . Now that her ears have been cleaned should I take her to vet to see if she does indeed have an ear infection? also to prevent this what do I do in-between grooming for her ears? I have seen how vet cleans them not sure I can do that ugh. Thanks I am a new doodle owner I need all the help I can get :) She is 10 months

If your groomer thinks she has an infection I would definitely bring her to the vet - they are very painful and turn ugly fast. After it's cleared up, there are drops that you can put in her ears (I use Pro-Otic) weekly and every time she is swimming or bathed to prevent a wax buildup. If you type "ear infection" in the search box in the top right hand corner, you will find a lot of information in previous discussions also. If you haven't already, I would also join the "Grooming Group" - there is a lot of information in there also!
Hi! If Daisy has a yeast infection, you should definitely take her to the vet so they can give you meds. Teddy has had 2 yeast infections and each time they've given him medicated ear drops. It's those darn floppy ears- ha! The vet also gave me a solution to use either after swimming or bathing to make sure they're dried out and for cleaning as well. Teddy actually really loves it when I clean his ears! I just pour some of the solution on a cotton square and stick it down in the ear canal and give him a little massage. Since he's just getting over an infection I'm using the solution a few times a week- once he's for sure out of the woods and probably towards the end of summer, I will go down to one time a week. Good luck!
thanks the vet is prescribing something to treat. and thanks for heads up about the grooming group
