Hi everyone,

Findley has these little pumps that seems to be little scabs or dry skin. all over his chest, neck and legs. I noticed a few of them a couple days ago but it seems like there are a lot more now.

Would anybody have an idea of what it could be? They are so small and not red at all  that I can even get a picture of them for an example.

We changed his food when we first got him which was over 3 weeks ago, so possibly an allergy? but maybe it would have been noticed earlier than that.

Ive also bathed him twice with a Burts bee dog shampoo in the last couple weeks.

We have a vet appointment set up next Monday for shots, but maybe I should be taking him in sooner? Thoughts?

Thank you,

I'm guessing you mean "bumps", not pumps, lol.

I can tell you that this is unrelated to food. First of all, food allergies take a minimum of 6 months to develop, and secondly, they don't manifest in this way.

It could be parasites, it could be a reaction to the shampoo, it could be any number of things. In a puppy this young, I'd take him to the vet. I would not wait 'til Monday.

Thank you, we have an appointment for this afternoon.

Wit might be cellulitis. I'd get him to the vet today.

Thank you, we are taking him at 2:40 this afternoon. I hope its nothing serious.

Let us know what the vet says.

Banjo tends to get these after he's been to the groomer.     It doesn't always happen, so I'm not sure if it's related to the shampoo that's used.    They usually go away after 10 days or so.        May be result of his shampoos?

Hi everyone. Thank you for your help!
Turns out he has a bacterial skin infection, they took a sample and examined it.
They believe it is from either the water at the lake we swim at or dirt. Either way, they say it's like a rash and gave us two weeks of Benadryl for him. So hopefully that does the trick.
Thanks again!
Kelsey

I'm glad it isn't something serious. I'm also a little confused as to what Benadryl could do for a bacterial infection. No other medications? Hope it clears up quickly.

I should have specified. They prescribed him Cephalexin.

Ah, that makes sense. :)

Good. I thought it might be a skin infection.

Hope Findley feels better soon!  Itchy skin is no fun!  Be sure to get a good probiotic for him and give it to him at least two hours before or after giving the antibiotic.  Gotta keep the good bacteria going in his tummy!
