Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi all.  As many of you know, I lost my beloved australian labradoodle, Paz, almost 2 months ago.  Paz had been diagnosed with T Cell Lymphoma in November 2015, and after a 6 month courageous battle, Paz crossed the rainbow bridge when he was only sx years old.  Paz was a registered Pet Partners therapy dog who helped the youngest victims of violent crime; in his short life, Paz gave so much, to so many and I have been heartbroken at losing him.   In any event, I decided to get an australian labradoodle puppy who can be trained to continue Paz's amazing work.  After much research, I found a highly recommended breeder who breeds large standard labradoodles; her mission is to breed dogs with temperaments that make them potential therapy/service dogs candidates.  I gave her a deposit for a planned litter and she called to tell me that the mommy dog is pregnant.......yaaay!  I am so excited!   The puppies are due around September 7 and I will pick the puppy up on November 11.    The puppies are being assessed by an independent evaluator at 7 weeks, and the results of that evaluation will determine which puppy I will get that has the greatest potential to be trained as a therapy dog.   I am so excited as I miss Paz so very much, and I know a puppy will help alleviate the sadness I am experiencing.  I'll keep you all posted as the time gets closer.  Thanks and big hugs to my doodlekisses family who have applauded Paz's accomplishments and supported me throughout Paz's illness.  I've never met any of you, however, I truly feel like your are the best extended family I could ever hope for.

We'll all be waiting for your new arrival with you, Charlotte. I'm very happy for you.

Congratulations! I am so happy for you. It won't be long now. I usually take Kathy Lee Gifford with a grain of salt, but something she said the other day, really rang true for me at least. She said joy can exist in the exact same spot as your grief. My mom passed away 2 months before my sister gave birth to her first baby. So I would agree with her. I look forward to watching the new little one grow to his or her potential and following in big brothers footsteps.

Thank you so very much.  I know a puppy will help heal the huge sadness in my heart.  I will start posting pictures as soon as the puppies are born and of course, will post the picture of the puppy I will be taking home.  I'm so excited and my spirits have truly lifted.  I'm actually looking forward to all the chaos one little puppy can create.  Of course, let's not forget that doodles are the cutest puppies ever!

Amy, I love that quote...joy can exist in the exact same spot as your grief. So true!

I am happy to hear your exciting news.
That is wonderful news. I am so happy that you have been able to find a breeder that can provide you with the right puppy to continue Paz's amazing work. Looking forward to following your journey with the new baby!

I am so thrilled for you!  Thank you for sharing this exciting news.  Paz was such a special dog. I followed every post you shared of Paz's therapy work.

So wonderful to see this news.  Will be watching for the announcement and puppy homecoming.

So excited for you! I followed Paz's journey and I know how much you miss Him. To be able to continue his legacy is a great thing!

Reading this just now has made me very happy! I know the devastation of losing a beloved pet at too young an age, and want you to know how thrilled I am for you to be bringing a new little doodle do-gooder into your life and, ultimately, into the lives of others. Yay!

Thank you to my special doodlekisses family for all your good wishes. Now the countdown begins; the puppies "should" be born on or around September 7, so I'll keep you posted.   My spirits have definitely been lifted by the prospect of a furry doodle coming into my life.  I'm confident that my beloved Paz, who definitely earned his angel wings, is looking down from heaven and his beautiful spirit will be guiding me every step of the way!  Paz taught me so many invaluable lessons about unconditional love; I feel the best way to honor Paz's memory is by training a puppy who can continue Paz's wonderful work with the youngest victims of violent crime.
