While combing Haley last week I found a huge loose tangled mat on his side. This was very surprising because Haley rarely mats. I cut mat off as it was so bad I could not work it out. Again, Sunday there was a tangle of hair in the same place. This one I was able to work out. Monday night I caught him licking his side and upon investigation I found a hotspot where he had been licking and the hair was tangling again. Haley is almost 8 years old and this is the first time he has had a hotspot. I straightened the hair out; cut it away from the sore and applied Neo-Predef powder. Tuesday morning I caught Haley licking the spot again so I put the C.O.S. on him and got ready to take him to the vet. We were at the vet’s for almost three hours. : (  Haley got an injection and instructions to continue applying the Neo-Predef for a couple of days until the drug kicks in. I am keeping him in the cone until then. He is doing quite well with it.

Lesson learned, if your doodle suddenly gets a mat, especially in a strange place, investigate under it.

So sorry that Harley was attacked and has stitches. Cute picture.  Haley still looks happy most of the time.

Poor Mr. Haley!  I hope the itching stops soon so that he won't have to wear the COS.

Thank you Nancy.  The COS comes off at lunchtime today.  The meds should have kicked in by then.  I will be watching Haley like a hawk this afternoon and evening.

Aw...cute picture even under the circumstances.  Get well soon Mr. Haley...it's too hot to be wearing more than you need!

Thanks Joani.  Haley keeps his head near the a/c duct.  lol

Speedy recovery to Mr. Haley! And Anne, you sound like such a good doodle mom! Thanks for sharing this advice.

Thank you Cindy.

I am so sorry Mr. Haley has a nasty hotspot and even sorrier he has to wear the cone of shame! I will say he looks pretty happy modeling it. I hope it all gets resolved soon.

Thanks Laurie.  He is not so happy now.  The injection he got Tuesday was supposed to kick in in a couple of days so I took the cone off him yesterday (Thursday). A few hours later he disappeared.  I found him very quickly in the hall licking so the COS is back on him.

Poor Haley.  I hate itches.  I hope the meds kick in soon.

Thanks Nancy.
