Hi all. I think I'm finally going to break down and switch off the Orijen puppy. My 6 month old dog has been on it since he was about 10 weeks old. I want to switch because of the constipation he has experienced. It was being managed with sweet potatoes but those don't seem to be working as well and now he is having anal gland issues. I would like to know which brand I should switch to?! The local shop I like to buy from sells wellness core, Zignature, canidae, and Fromm so I was wondering what might be recommended. I'd like to try another grain free.

All of the brands you've mentioned make high quality foods. Zignature doesn't have a puppy specific formula; all of their formulas are "ALS" (all life stages) which is fine for most puppies, especially since you'll be able to transition to adult food in another 3-4 months anyway. The other companies do make grain-free puppy formulas. Fromm's (Heartland Gold) is red meat based. Core & Canidae's (Pure) are chicken/poultry based. I like the nutritional profiles for the Core and Canidae better than the Fromm, if that helps.

Are the omega 3s better in one vs other? Would I have to supplement?

The Omega 6:3 ratio in the Fromm food is not low enough. The others are fine, although they are not nearly as good as the Orijen. One of the Zignature fish formulas would also be fine.
