Lucky has finally stopped pouncing on the Pug, Pomeranian, and the Persians. However the damage is done. No one plays with him or likes it when he comes close. He is finally a good boy. He is so sad playing with his toys. I caught him trying to play with our parrot and the parrot doesn't seem to hate him. It seems that only big dogs like him like our neighbor's golden, or the labs.I've tried to have all of them play fetch but he gets overexcited and starts pouncing on the little dogs rather than relieving the ball. Is there anything I can do?

Arrange play dates away from his home territory and socialize with larger dogs.

Yep already doing that but that doesn't make the others like him

My sister has a 4 year old pug who is off the charts active.  Charlie will have absolutely nothing to do with him and it has been that way for the last 3.8 years!  Beau can handle him for about a day and then he is hiding under a table in our bedroom.  The pug wants to sleep next to Beau and Beau is not having any of that! Haha  Chen - ever thought about a second doodle - then he would have a playmate LOL

I was thinking of that but my fiancé would kill me. LoL I so want another dog

Aww, poor Lucky. Annabelle has never really had a playmate. Just me and my husband and the 2 young grand kids, which she seems ok with. My sister in laws chihuahua, hates her and runs away when she gets anywhere near him. The neighbors dog is about the same size as Annabelle, but she doesn't like him. I think she is afraid of him. He is a barker and Annabelle doesn't like it. When he barks he lifts himself off the ground with each bark. It is so funny. Sounds like play dates with more compatible dogs would be in order.

I don't know if they will like him more now that he has quit pouncing on everyone. He plays pretty rough with the neighbors lab. He seems to know not to do that with anyone else. He gets along great with my dad's Maltese who actually likes him so it really isn't all little dogs

Poor little Lucky:( I think you should get dogs for a play date like everyone else said:) But maybe try to get other dogs that are the same temperament  as Lucky. So he doesn't get scared, and they don't get scared.

I hope that sorta helps:)

I've been doing the play date thing. He gets along wonderfully with puppies of a similar age and size.  They all seem to have the energizer bunny thing going.

Is there any advice as to how to get MY dogs to like Lucky more? He does fine with other dogs but they aren't the problem. He has soured relationship with his the other pets in my household. Currently we have massive gates everywhere to keep them separated when he is in his puppy mode.

I think he will get better as he matures and with more experience.  I don't think Charlie had enough socialization so when we go to dog parks, he will try to hump some of the other dogs - until they tell him to knock it off. He might chase the little dogs. We are hoping with more and more exposure, he will settle down.

Thank you!

Time and maturity will help but they may always just "tolerate" him. We had this problem with my doodle Beowoof. His four miniature schnauzer siblings just didn't want to play with him. They would chase him occasionally but for the most part just ignored him. He tried so hard, too. :-(

Our solution to the problem was another doodle. Ha ha!! We got Mozzie when Beowoof was almost two. They are now three and one and play together all the time! This may not work for you but just a thought. ;-)
